QQQ Gains 5.09% and SPY 3.51% as the VIX Ends Below 15 (Week Ending August 7, 2026)

QQQ rose 5.09% in the week to August 7 and SPY 3.51%, led by NVIDIA (+11.56%). The VIX ended at 14.90 and the 10-year yield at 4.66%.

NVIDIA rose 11.56% in the week to August 7, Microsoft 7.59%, Tesla 5.58%, and Apple 1.43%. QQQ gained 5.09% and SPY 3.51%.

The July jobs report put unemployment at 4.1%. In the week to August 6, QQQ rose 4.55% and SPY 3.62%, while Apple fell 6.30%.

QQQ rose 8.40% in the five sessions to August 5, ahead of SPY’s 5.53%. NVIDIA gained 15.37% on the week, though QQQ slipped 0.90% on Wednesday.

The 10-year yield closed at 4.63% on Tuesday, August 4. QQQ rose 3.40% on the day and 7.16% over five sessions; SPY gained 4.11% on the week.

The VIX closed at 15.86 on Monday, August 3, as SPY rose 1.42% and QQQ 1.76%. Over five sessions Microsoft gained 25.33% and Apple lost 9.94%.

SPY rose 1.10% in the week to July 31 and QQQ 0.55%. Microsoft gained 21.75%, Apple lost 7.24%, and the VIX ended at 15.99.

QQQ lost 6.18% in the five sessions to July 29, against 2.40% for SPY. Tesla fell 20.24% and NVIDIA 10.40%, and the VIX closed at 20.66.
